In early November 2015, seven Afghan civilians – including a nine-year-old girl – were beheaded in Afghanistan by militant forces. All of the victims were Hazara, an ethnic minority in Afghanistan with a history of being kidnapped, tortured and killed by the Taliban and other insurgent groups. In response to the beheadings, thousands of Afghans took to the streets of Kabul to demand the Afghan government and international community pay mind to the systematic killings of Hazaras and increase security for civilians at large as the Taliban, the Islamic State and other factions continue to fight across the country. Afghans in Europe, the Middle East and the U.S. joined in the demonstrations to show solidarity with Hazara victims in Afghanistan. This was the protest in Washington, D.C., on Nov. 14, where Afghans traveled from as far as Ottawa, Canada to send a message.

Tributes have been paid to BBC TV presenter Komla Dumor, who died suddenly at his London home on Saturday at the age of 41. It is thought he suffered a heart attack. A Ghanaian, Dumor joined the BBC in 2007 and became a presenter for BBC World News and its Focus on Africa programme.

We set out to cover New York City's 2nd biggest snowstorm since 1869. Central Park total snow accumulation at the end of the winter storm was 26.8 inches. We started at 1am Saturday at the Brooklyn Bridge, covering the Dumbo area. We proceeded into the city shortly after and covered midtown Manhattan, Central Park, Columbus Circle, Midtown East, and Queensborough bridge. By the time we arrived in L.I.C., Queens it was about 6am with zero visibility. We decided to head back to the studio in Bushwick, Brooklyn to call it a night. Craig Nisperos started his time-lapses mid day Saturday during the storms most intense winds. With winds reaching up to 40+ mph hour. On Sunday we wrapped it up by getting some additional footage and including aerials provided by Magid Metwarry.

The Connectivist toured behind the scenes at ESPN's new Digital Center 2 (DC-2) studios where the network's flagship show, SportsCenter, originates. The new SportsCenter has 114 video monitors and a social media studio where athletes can tweet and blog live. We talked to producers and to anchor Kevin Negandhi about working in such a futuristic setting.
